Project Human Resource Management
This topic teaches students and community leaders how to organize and lead a project team. Participants will learn how to identify the specific skills required for their project, how to acquire those resources (including volunteers), and how to keep the team motivated through the inevitable ups and downs of a community initiative.
Core Objectives:
- The Resource Management Plan: Learning how to document who is needed, what equipment is required, and how these resources will be managed.
- Defining the RACI Matrix: A critical tool for clarity. We teach participants how to assign who is:
- Responsible (does the work).
- Accountable (owns the result).
- Consulted (provides input).
- Informed (kept in the loop).
- Acquiring Resources: Strategies for recruiting student volunteers or negotiating for the use of school facilities and equipment.
- Team Building and Dynamics: Understanding the “Forming, Storming, Norming, and Performing” model to help a new community group reach its full potential.
- Conflict Management: Professional techniques for resolving disagreements within a team before they impact the project’s schedule or quality.
Key Outcome: By the end of this topic, participants will be able to structure a team with clear roles and high morale. They will gain the leadership skills to manage both the “soft” human side and the “hard” logistical side of their projects, ensuring that the school or community effort is supported by a motivated, well-equipped team.
